With skin and blood tests, it can be learned what an allergic reaction has developed. Generally, two types of skin allergy tests are performed. The prick test is performed by inserting a liquid containing allergen into the upper layer of the skin, and then inserting very fine-tipped lancets. In the intradermal test, a very small amount (0.01-0.02 mL) of the allergen is injected into the lower layer of the skin, called the dermis. Skin tests are fast, reliable and practical diagnostic tools for allergy diagnosis. However, a positive test is not always an indication that you have an allergy. It should also be accompanied by clinical signs. Apart from skin tests, there are also Specific IgE and Total serum IgE analysis tests, which are checked by blood analysis. Although it is a painless method compared to skin tests, it is less sensitive and more expensive.
